PORON® 40V0 Foam | UL 94 V-0 Polyurethane Foam from Rogers | Sealing Devices

Rogers Corporation has launched PORON® 40V0 foam, a next-generation polyurethane foam designed to meet the growing need for flame-retardant, cost-effective, and highly conformable sealing solutions.

Unlike traditional polyurethane foams, PORON 40V0 delivers UL 94 V-0 performance in a thin, soft, compressible material. This makes it an ideal solution for procurement professionals and engineers balancing compliance, performance, and cost.

Why PORON® 40V0 Foam Matters

UL 94 V-0 Flame Rating in Thin Foam Gauges

Presents V-0 performance at 3–10 mm thicknesses, eliminating the need for thicker, rigid foams to meet compliance. Where customers need the higher level of flame protection, 40V0 is a step above the standard Poron which only meets the UL 94 horizontal burn test. The 40V0 can handle the tougher vertical burn test as well.

Soft, Gap-Filling Sealing Material

Maintains excellent compression set resistance, ensuring reliable performance over long-term use and repeated cycles.

Halogen-Free, Siloxane-Free Chemistry

Reduces contamination in sensitive electronics, improving safety and compliance.

Cost-Effective Alternative to Silicones

Delivers flame safety at a lower cost when moisture sealing or high-heat resistance is not the primary need.

Applications for PORON® 40V0

PORON® 40V0 vs. Silicone Foam

Material Selection Comparison
Property PORON® 40V0 (Polyurethane) Silicone Foam
Flame Rating UL 94 V-0 (3–10 mm) UL 94 V-0 (varied thicknesses)
Compressibility Soft, highly conformable; excellent gap-filling Soft to medium; good gap-filling
Compression Set Excellent long-term seal force retention Good to excellent depending on grade
Moisture Sealing Moderate; not ideal for IP-rated waterproofing Excellent; preferred for moisture/dust ingress protection
High-Temperature Resistance Moderate Excellent
Chemistry Halogen-free, siloxane-free Silicone elastomer; inherently stable
Typical Use-Case BESS, EV/HEV, data centers, HVAC Outdoor enclosures, high-heat zones
Relative Cost Lower (cost-effective alternative) Higher

Selection tip: Use PORON® 40V0 for flame safety and cost efficiency. Use silicone foam when superior moisture sealing or high-temperature resistance is critical.
